TDE Power Rankings - Season 34

Post by Nocky »

Right the senior auction is out of the way (in the main) so it's time to go through the power rankings for the senior squads

It was pre-season 32 when last i did these so for those of you that don't know what they're all about, I attempt to allocate a score to each player on the game based on main stat, secondaries, tertiaries for midfielders and then abs for each stat. This gives every player a number based on which we can look at the squads.

This gives an indication of value without looking at things such as age and people will value players differently but it's one view...

I'll list the specific calculation for each group of players.

Let's kick off...

8. Z_Suzuki Brentford 25.70

21=. N_Raveyre		Wolves			24.80
21=. S_Proctor		Watford			24.80

26. O_Whatmuff Man Utd 24.78
27. D_Raya Hull City 24.72
28. M_Hermansen Chelsea 24.69
29. C_Foggarty Bournemouth U21 24.63
30. K_Ranson Bristol City 24.61
Here we have the top 30 ranked GKs on the game and Courtois at Bournemouth continues to dominate the rankings. But he has now turned 33 so will be losing abs at the end of the season from now on. It means he will probably peak as a 28r.

Norwich, Liverpool, Tottenham and QPR have the only other GKs currently rated 26 or higher with those four and Everton's Lammens fighting it out to be the next number one as things stand.

There are three GKs from the Championship in the top 10 with Brentford's Suzuki, Forest's Henderson and Fulham's Kaiser very close within the mix. Forest are also currently the best placed of the teams with two on the list with Mendy in 19th backing up Henderson in 9th

Nick Pope at Sheffield United is the top ranked GK in League 1 as it stands to start the season with Hull's Raya and Bristol city's Ranson the only other ones in the top 30.

For the youngsters, Leicester's Marson is the top of the new intake having had an abs pack already applied Whilst Warren at Liverpool, Proctor at Watford and Whatmuff at Man Utd are all academy graduates. Finally, in 29th place, Foggarty at Bournemouth is the only one of the top 30 who will start in an U21 squad for the season.

25. D_Raum Norwich City 27.92
26. Gabriel Bournemouth 27.90
27. N_Patterson Norwich City 27.89
28. P_Hincapie Norwich City 27.88
29. H_Bellerin Man City 27.86
30. I_Maatsen Chelsea 27.84
Man City dominate the top 10 with three of their defenders in their including Munoz who is number one. Tottenham and Bournemouth both have two top ten defs with Everton, Liverpool and QPR making it up with one each

To do an overall league table of entries in the top 30:

Code: Select all

Man City	5
Liverpool	5
Bournemouth	4
Tottenham	3
Leicester City	3
Norwich City	3
QPR 2
Chelsea 2
Everton 1
Notts Forest	1
Arsenal 1
So only 11 out of 36 clubs have defenders inside the top 30 although palace and Wolves are just outside. Man City and Liverpool have the best depth and maybe it is a little surprising that Spurs only have three players inside that top 30 with their 4th defender down in 53rd!

Only three Championship players currently sit in the top 30 with Forest's Senesi the leader at the moment ahead of Chelsea's in demand duo of Truffert and Maatsen. The highest ranked defender in league one at this point is Murillo at Sheffield United who sits 46th with a score of 27.56.

Just ahead of him in 45th is Reggiani who will be (at the moment) the highest ranked player to start the season in the U21s with Norwich using an overrated slot to boost him as their 6th defender.

Defensive Midfielder
To qualify as a DM the player must be a midfielder with tackling 10 or more and shooting no higher than tackling

Calculation = Rating + main abs/1000 + (tackling + tackling abs/1000)/3 + (shooting + shooting abs/1000)/10

Code: Select all

1. E_Anderson Tottenham 30.33
2. D_Szoboszlai Liverpool 29.76
3. W_Zaire-Emery Tottenham 29.68
4. D_Rice Man City 29.58
5. M_Fernandes Everton 29.56
6. M_Caicedo QPR 29.44
7. M_Sangare QPR 29.43
8. T_Reijnders Bournemouth 29.38
9. A_Bouaddi Norwich 29.17
10.F_Ouedraogo Tottenham 29.15

16.Joao_Gomes Wolves 28.78
17.A_MacAllister Liverpool 28.74
18.E_Fernandez QPR 28.60
19.S_Sidibe Leicester 28.58
20.Andrey_Santos Liverpool 28.50

Code: Select all

21.F_Torres Norwich 28.49
22.Joelinton Bournemouth 28.48
23.S_Bajcetic Blackburn 28.46

28.S_Bio Sunderland 28.18
29.Y_Tielemans Ipswich Town 28.11
30.Casemiro Middlesbrough 28.05
Midfielders are harder to look at because how do we compare a good tackler vs a good attacker so I try and break it down into AMs, DMs and all rounders. We normally get a few different teams in here as not many try and keep multiple DMs

However, Tottenham dominate here with three of the best defensive midfielders all within the top 10 and two of the top three - including record auction signing Elliott Anderson who is straight in at number one in the category! QPR are the next best with two top 10 entries and three in the top 20.

The summary of top 30 entries is as follows!

Code: Select all

Bournemouth	4
Norwich City	4
Tottenham	3
QPR 3
Man City	3
Liverpool	3
Everton 2
Leicester City	2

Code: Select all

Southampton	1
Wolves 1
Blackburn	1
Sunderland	1
Ipswich Town	1
Middlesbrough	1
A bit better than with defenders with 14 different clubs represented here. It is actually Bournemouth and Norwich who lead the way here with four each inside these top groupings. But still plenty of depth for Spurs, QPR, Man City and Liverpool all of who have three in there

The Championship is represented this time with Scott at Southampton a very creditable 14th on the list with Blackburn, Wolves and Sunderland all getting players into the discussions. Top all rounder Tielemans and veteran Casemiro make up the top 30 as League 1 entrants

You have to go all the way down to 76th position and M_Bradbury at Wolves to find the top defensive midfielder in an U21 squad as it stands!

Midfielders
This is effectively the ranking of them as all rounders

Calculation = Rating + main abs/1000 + (tackling + tackling abs/1000)/3 + (shooting + shooting abs/1000)/3

Code: Select all

1. E_Anderson Tottenham 33.43
2. F_Wirtz Tottenham 33.27
3. D_Szoboszlai Liverpool 32.93

5. C_Jones Leicester 32.50
6. M_Fernandes Everton 32.43
7. D_Rice Man City 32.43
8. M_Odegaard Man City 32.42
9. T_Reijnders Bournemouth 32.32
10.K_Mainoo Leicester 32.32

Code: Select all

11.W_Zaire-Emery Tottenham 32.10
12.T_Bischof Man City 32.05
13.R_Cherki QPR 31.99
14.A_Bouaddi Norwich 31.94
15.F_Torres Norwich 31.94
16.A_MacAllister Liverpool 31.90
17.E_Buendia Norwich 31.84
18.M_Sangare QPR 31.83
19.M_Caicedo QPR 31.74
20.Joao_Gomes Wolves 31.70

Code: Select all

21.C_Baleba Norwich 31.63
22.A_Scott Southampton 31.63
23.F_Ouedraogo Tottenham 31.62
24.Y_Tielemans Ipswich Town 31.59
25.N_Barella Crystal Palace 31.58
26.X_Simons Leicester 31.55
27.B_Saka Everton 31.51
28.L_Kang-in Chelsea 31.49
29.C_Tzolis Crystal Palace 31.43
30.Joelinton Bournemouth 31.43
As we run through the midfielders it can be a little repetitive as we see the same players come up again and again. Naturally we will see top DMs also be top midfielders. As is proved here as new entry Anderson also tops this list. There are only three mids rated 24 at this moment in time and Spurs have all of them although their seconds mean they rank 1st, 11th and 23rd. Having said that, Spurs also have the number two rank on this list as well with Wirtz likely to be leading the AMs.

It is Man city who have the most top 10 players here with three ahead of Spurs and Leicester with two each with Jamma's triple raters policy getting him some high entries here. Liverpool, Everton and Bournemouth make up the top 10. Norwich and QPR who normally do well in this area have to make do with dominating the 11 to 20 spots

Top 30 entries by club:

Code: Select all

Tottenham	4
Norwich City	4
Leicester City	3
QPR 3
Man City	4
Liverpool	2
Everton 2
Bournemouth	2
Crystal Palace	2

Code: Select all

Southampton	1
Wolves 1
Chelsea 1
Ipswich Town	1
13 clubs are represented in the top 30 with Spurs and Norwich leading the way with four players each from the three of Leicester and QPR. What is perhaps most surprising is Bournemouth and Liverpool only having two players in the top 30 (although they both have two ranked 31-40) but maybe that is the cost of missing out on the auction round one!

Crystal Palace of the Championship show the strength of their squad with tow players in the top 30 although the highest ranked Champ player is Gomes of Wolves in 20th place. Scott of Southampton and Kan-in of Chelsea are also Championship representation whilst Tielemans of Ipswich ranks better as an all rounder and is the only League 1 player on the list.

Down in 81st place is Norwich's Koleosho who will be the highest ranked player to start the season in an U21 squad as it stands

Attacking Midfielders
In reverse to DMS these must have shooting at least 12 and tackling lower or equal to shooting

Calculation = Rating + main abs/1000 + (tackling + tackling abs/1000)/10 + (shooting + shooting abs/1000)/3

Code: Select all

1. F_Wirtz Tottenham 30.01

28.M_Mount Bristol City 28.26
29.C_Echeverri Tottenham 28.22
30.J_Manzambi Middlesbrough 28.20
As predicted, Wirtz takes up the top spot on the list but this maybe Spurs' weakest area as their second AM comes in at 29! Man City again dominate with three as their all rounders come to the fore and likewise Leicester have 2 again. The top ten is well shared with Liverpool, Palace, QPR and Bournemouth all having entries.

Top 30 entries by club:

Southampton	2

Code: Select all

Crystal Palace	1
Wolves 1
Chelsea 1
Bristol City	1
Middlesbrough	1
Back up to 14 clubs represented with Everton seeing their strongest area and Man City continuing to feature heavily with those two having four each! The normal suspects in Liverpool, Leicester, Bournemouth and Norwich all have triple representation whilst Spurs drop to just two - that's the same as Southampton who are the leading Championship club in this area.

Meanwhile, Mount at Bristol City and Manzambi and Middlesbrough mean there is league 1 representation within the top 30!

Koleosho at 64th with Norwich is again likely to be the highest player to start in the U21s

With most clubs only playing two FWs we get a lot more represented here in a similar way to GKs. Martinez at Liverpool continues to dominate the rankings as he will for a long time yet! Incredibly there is Championship representation in second place with Blackburn academy graduate Walters taking that spot!

Norwich City have the highest ranked front two with Duran in third and Mbeumo in 6th making them the only club with two representatives in the top 10! It's probably more interesting to look at the rankings of the top two FWs for the clubs rather than counts in the top 30

Positions of the best two FWs for each club (ranked by position of top player)

Code: Select all

Liverpool	1st and 17th
Blackburn	2nd and 28th
Norwich City	3rd and 6th
Tottenham	4th and 69th
Leicester City	5th and 19th
Everton 7th and 22nd
Watford 8th and 77th
QPR 9th and 30th
Chelsea 10th and 13th
Southampton	11th and 41st
Coventry	12th and 95th
Wrexham 14th and 31st

Code: Select all

Man City	15th and 29th
Swansea City	16th and 48th
Derby County	18th and 91st
Brighton	20th and 45th
Notts Forest	21st and 49th
Wolves 23rd and 25th
Ipswich Town	24th and 65th
Bournemouth	26th and 35th
Hull City	27th and 46th
Aston Villa	32nd and 38th
Crystal Palace	33rd and 39th
Middlesbrough	34th and 81st

Code: Select all

Burnley 36th and 58th
Lincoln City	37th and 70th
West Ham	42nd and 66th
Arsenal 44th and 101st
Sunderland	47th and 55th
Fulham 51st and 74th
Man Utd 52nd and 59th
Sheffield Utd	54th and 87th
Leeds United	56th and 67th
Brentford	57th and 68th
Bristol City	102nd and 115th
Newcastle	104th and 113th
The championship is well represented with four clubs inside the top 12 for the top ranked player and Chelsea having the best all round attack there. The biggest gap is top ranked League 1 side who have 12th ranked Munoz but then a drop of 83 places to their next FW.

It is surprising where some of the big teams sit here with Man City just 13th for their best and Bournemouth at 26th - although this is driven by the secondaries which is debatable how useful these are on a FW. The lowest Premiership club is Man Utd who come in 31st with their duo!

Bristol City and Newcastle don't have one player in the top 100 meaning every club on TDE has two FWs ranked higher up than those two!

This ends the positional ranks. Individual squad ranks to follow...
