TDE End of Season Awards - Season 33

Another season in the record books, and whilst many managers are ploughing on through the transfer window to set up for the new season, we need to spend a little bit of time to reflect on Season 33, and celebrate the good the bad and the ugly.

Winners of each category will each receive 5m credits per award, or 2m each if it's split (unless otherwise stated). Once you've read the thread, copy and paste the voting form into a PM to me and send it over!

Voting will close at 23:59 Monday 31st August, with the winners announced when I get chance at work on Tuesday.

EPL Manager of the Season
S32 Winner: Matt Collison (Bournemouth)

Kim Roskifte (Manchester City)
Thomas Edvardsen (Liverpool)
Will Schoolar (Manchester United)

No surprises here, the top four teams all had an excellent season which a 9 point gap between the top four and the rest of the pack. Bournemouth secured the title, finishing four points ahead of runners up Manchester City, with Liverpool and Manchester United both involved in an exciting battle that with three games to go, saw the top four completely open.

ECH Manager of the Season
S32 Winner: Neil Stockley (Newcastle United)

Daniel Mason (Wrexham)
Mike McLeod (Burnley)
Adam Riley (Nottingham Forest)

In the Championship, West Ham United lead the way with Bruffio securing the title and automatic promotion with a comfortable six point lead over second place. This is where it all became even more interesting though as going into the final game, Wrexham and Burnley were neck and neck split only by goal difference. The final day saw Wrexham travel to Watford with Burnley hosting Nottingham Forest who were looking to secure fourth place and home advantage in the play offs. Wrexham lost their game at Vicarage Road, but they were done a huge favour by Forest who beat Burnley and ensured that Welsh side finished second.

Burnley got their revenge at Wembley, beating Forest in the Play Off Final, but all four sides deserve their nomination for a fantastic season and an exciting final run in!

U21 Manager of the Season
S32 Winner: Kim Roskifte (Manchester City)

Alex Nock (Norwich City)
David Gooch (Leeds United)
Daniel Perry (Tottenham Hotspur)
Ryan Field (Everton)

Norwich City stormed to the PL2 title this season, finishing a smashing 7 points clear of Leeds United in second place. Norwich also finished with a staggering +27 goal difference over the season, and romped home with the title. Leeds shocked many with their excellent performance, finishing second just ahead of Tottenham who continue to invest heavily in their youngsters. Everton complete our nominations with Ryan claiming the Development League title by a comfortable five points and brings his youngsters back into the top tier. An excellent performance in a competitive league that saw just five points split Swansea in second and Southampton in fifth.

European Manager of the Season
S32 Winner: Thomas Edvardsen (Liverpool)

Will Schoolar (FC Porto) Conference League Winner

Nominations for the three competition winners here, although only one English club claimed a European trophy! Andy lead Barcelona to a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League Final after both teams slugged it out for 120 minutes. It's fair to say the scoreline doesn't reflect the match stats with the sides sharing 29 attempts on goal!

It was much clearer cut in the Europa League as Norwich ran away comfortable 3-0 winners over Fiorentina. Alex had tasted European success with Fiorentina as he lifted the Conference League, but got his revenge and one better here with the Europa League trophy. The added benefit was that this also saw Norwich qualify for the Champions League.

Finally, I managed to pick up the Conference League trophy with FC Porto, defeating Freiburg on penalties. Our opponents decided that Long Ball was the best way to make a game of it and they created just one chance all game, but we were unable to find a goal in 120 minutes and we headed for penalties. A 4-2 victory saw us lift the cup!

S32 Winner: Premier League Relegation battle

Wrexham secure automatic promotion thanks to Nottingham Forest
Arsenal survive on the final day of the Premier League season at the expense of Fulham
Bodo Glimt get through the CL group ahead of Bournemouth and PSG

As already mentioned, the final round of the Championship was an exciting one, unless you are Daniel or Mike, as Wrexham looked as though they had lost their advantage to get promoted. Forest did them a huge favour by winning at Turf Moor, only for Burnley to take the ultimate revenge at Wembley.

Arsenal equally had an exciting final day of the season, going into the final round one point adrift of Fulham albeit the Gunners had a much better goal difference. A win for Fulham would've kept them up, with Arsenal knowing that a point could save them if Fulham lost. Arsenal managed their point with a draw at Newcastle United, and looked to the result from Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea did them a favour with a solid 3-0 win. Fulham went down and Arsenal survived to fight another day!

Finally, Bodo Glimt repeated their real life Champions League exploits in TDE as they managed to qualify for the knock out games of the Champions League against a number of big hitters such as Bournemouth and PSG! They may have only picked up one win in the group stage, but amongst some of Europe's best sides, they certainly did enough to get through to the next round.

The 3 promoted clubs all get relegated
Palace finish 11th in the Championship
Norwich lose both domestic cup finals in one season

It's almost expected in real life, and TDE reflected it with all three of the sides promoted from the Championship were immediately relegated after just one season in the top flight. Chelsea had been expected to get promoted a number of times, whilst Newcastle and Fulham both fought bravely to stay up, with Fulham fighting to the very end.

On the other side, most predicted that Crystal Palace would dominate the Championship and immediately bounce back after their surprise relegation last year. It wasn't to be though as Palace struggled to adjust to life outside the top tier and ultimately finished 11th. They'll look to not extend their stay too much longer though and will once again be heavily backed to get promoted this season.

Finally, Norwich City secured an unwanted prize of a pair of Domestic Cup runners up medals. Most of you are too young to remember Sheffield Wednesday doing this in the early 90s, but Norwich were dominant in the FA Cup with four wins out of their five games as they made it all the way to Wembley without even conceding. Unfortunately this is where the good run ended, and Norwich were undone by Liverpool after extra time.
